Exposure visit to a model village

The 4-day exposure tour to Bhujung village of Lamjung district was conducted by NCDC from December 5 - 8, 2021. The visit was mainly focused on women groups from different villages which include Danda Basaha, Jammune and Gaire Basaha. There were a total of 26 participants including the field staffs out of which 17 were woman participants.

The primary objective of the exposure visit was to interact, observe and learn from the Bhujung village in the Annapurna Conservation Area together with observation of good practices, exploration of replicable conservation and development activities, and exchange of knowledge and expertise.

In the visit the participants observed various aspects of Bhujung village such as cleanliness, unity in development of the village, drinking water facilities, hardworking peoples, hospitality, afforestation, income generation activities - cash crops (tea and cardamom), practice of saving and credit, fund management, cultures and tradition. The 4-day tour has helped them to learn and appreciate how the local community working together can bring social and economic prosperity within the village.

The exposure visit to Bhujung was impactful. They realised the importance of local attire and culture. They were also able to learn on how women can play the role of change agent in the village. The women of the village have started using traditional Gurung/Magar attire during a special event. The women started working in a team in different activities including village clean up and plantation.
