Diminishing Pressure on the Forests and Improvement

Diminishing Pressure on the Forests and Improvement

Year: 2017 - 2020

Status: Completed

Overview of the Project

NCDC implemented the three-year project entitled Diminishing Pressure on the Forests and Improvement of Living Conditions in Shanksoh, Dhading district of Nepal. The project commenced on 1 April 2017 and was successfully completed in December 2020 with one year of no cost extension. The working area of the project was Shankosh ward no 11 and 12.

NCDC installed 273 NIBP (Nepal Improved Biogas Plan) model of plants. The NIPB plant is slightly different than the usual GGC-2047 biogas plant design which was in operation for over 20 years. Nepal Biogas Promotion Association (NBPA) with the support of GIZ took the initiative to improve GGC design to NIBP considering the BSP standard design and improving some critical points. The NIB plant is designed to address the shortcomings of the current GGC-2047 plant design. The NIBP design is considered much more flexible in terms of space requirements and plant placement than the GGC system. NIBP is designed for better performance (gas production) and usability of the plant for the rural communities. At present, NCDC was the only institution in the country which promoted the NIBP model.
